I was intrigued by the idea of seeing our own typical Western doctor's office visit as a ceremonial endeavor. It's a great reverse view of our own ways through another culture's filters and shows how at the important core, healing is always approached within a spiritual matrix even when we don't realize we are doing it.
Loved the "risk and mastery" circus analogy, too. Those are masterful performances, but the thing they are doing is real, not pretend like in a play.
That helps when I think about the "authenticity" of some of the outwardly ceremonial aspects of the ayahuasca sessions.

really great interview steve. i cant wait to hear the rest and read the book. yeah i love those ayasmina interviews on KMO's podcast.. she can be pretty insightful with her questions... wierd about the confederate flag?? i wonder what the spirit was trying to show you?? really looking forward to reading the book.. and hopefully someday soon i can go down there and experience some of these things for myself and open my pandora's box...
