Only 10 days left until I fly to Peru. Hard to believe the time is nearly upon us (those of us going down for to Iquitos for the Amazonian Shamanism Conference). I had a question. Since beginning my dietia two weeks ago I've been suffering from dull headaches, usually in the afternoon and evening. I'm sure most of it has been caffeine withdraws and other mental/physical cravings for items once more prevalent in my diet. I was wondering what, if any, medication would be suitable for use to calm these dull headaches? I haven't used any pill-form medication since beginning my dietia, and I'd like to stick with that. Would a product like Tiger Balm or Head On (both are topical) be alright to use?

Re: Ayahuasca Dietia & Headaches: What medicine is alright to use?
Mon, June 30, 2008 - 6:01 PMToday I've noticed a great difference in my dull headaches. Finally I've received some relief. I've noticed other great benefits from the dietia itself though. I was a daily drinker of black coffee for many years (sometimes three or four cups a day), and I knew I'd have a rough go at releasing it. I started eliminating coffee from my diet about two weeks ago, along with sugar/sweets, pork, beef, etc. I have already found that my insomnia has subsided and my overall energy level has begun to increase. It is like the healing process has already started. Plus, there couldn't be a better time to start my dietia, because my garden has been yielding by the bushel! -

Re: Ayahuasca Dietia & Headaches: What medicine is alright to use?
Mon, June 30, 2008 - 6:43 PMThe headaches are just your body throwing a tantrum in reaction to cleansing all the stuff, IMO. I would recommend to try and ride the headaches out and stick to the dieta. If you have really bad headaches, or not so bad ones for that matter, just try sitting and breathing in and out through your nose for as long as possible. In the past I have found this to provide at least temporary relief from the headaches, and a good excuse to meditate! :)
But stick to the dieta and they should go away soon.....I think......

Re: Ayahuasca Dietia & Headaches: What medicine is alright to use?
Tue, July 1, 2008 - 4:30 AMI had about the same experience, I was sporting alot at the time doing a strict diet without tobacco, coffee, alcohol, sweets, salts and meat. After a month of abstaining I noticed everytime my heart began to work when jogging I would get headaches. Like my brain was throbbing in my skull, I would stop jogging and go home. I found out it was a combination of foods, nuts and yerba mate. They don't work well together, I also found that eating meat helps to prevent the headache.
This is personal ofcourse, but perhaps there is a combination in the foods you 'are' eating that doesn't work well for your body. Make a list of what you eat when you get the headaches and check. Or perhaps you have a small allergie to certain foods, nuts are very plausible, cole, beans it could be anything.
Peace

Tue, July 1, 2008 - 4:36 AMHumans are oppurtunist eaters, since prehistoric times we would eat what we could get our hands on. But everything has a different effect on the body. This limitation in my diet made me very aware of this.
