what confusion! Your humble moderator has been exploring novels depths of limbo and disorientation--an ordinary job with eight hour work days and early mornings. A new underworld trip; fresh banality; unexpected limbo.
We have some lovely new members. Welcome!!
A moment of clarity revealed to me that this tribe is still not 'public.' Membership requests have been festering in my inbox. The spirits are surely displeased.
--
I've spent the last year attempting to dismember my life. I thought that my courage alone was enough.
I seem to be fleshing out a Faustian pact. I've been moving into interactions with increasingly dense matters.
I've been wresting with the world--ripping out walls and old floors, building a shower, tearing apart and repairing an old vehicle. That was the easy, painful stuff. Now I'm in danger of succumbing to real stupidity, working full time, missing my solitude.
Maybe some of you will enjoy my raving account of one of the flashes of clarity that burst through a turn around the twisting screw-threads
forums.ayahuasca.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php
I'm now staying in an empty home, which I hope will sell as soon as possible. I'm full of hope. I'll drive across the country. I'll be one more thin thread connecting the tribes. I'll meet those of you who are interested in meeting me.
--
Welcome new members! You've been ignored but not forgotten. Assault me with your justified grievances!
love,

Fri, July 31, 2009 - 8:34 AMHi Ben! Nice to read you! lol
Please consider letting someone who is around more assist you here. Do you know anyone who could moderate during your long absences?
All the best! -

Re: A welcome for new members, apologies, and a personal update
Fri, July 31, 2009 - 3:35 PMGood to see you on here. I just started using tribe again myself. Day 5 no cigarettes, im looking for a tobacco juice recipe, but I only have a pinch (literally) to use, so don't worry about me going overboard.

Re: A welcome for new members, apologies, and a personal update
Fri, July 31, 2009 - 3:57 PMThanks for the replies! And for those who mentioned your locations--i'd love to meet with you. It's impossible to know how long it will be before I leave Jacksonville, or even if a cross country drive will be my first endeavor. But eventually . . .
Embrace -- You're right that the tribe shouldn't be without an active moderator. For what it's worth, when I've been generally inactive, I do continue to check for email notifications of tribe messages. Apparently I don't receive notes about membership requests.
For the immediate future, I should have time to devote to this group, and I've been craving writing opportunities.
We'll see what happens over the next few weeks. If I find that I remain absorbed in non-tribe activities, I'll turn over the task of moderating for awhile or forever.
love you all . . . -

Sat, August 1, 2009 - 10:17 PMtobacco juice recipe:
put the tobacco in filtered water, enough to cover it barely.
let soak over night.
strain & squeeze with cheezecloth.
repeat with same tobacco for a lighter second wash.

Re: A welcome for new members, apologies, and a personal update
Sun, August 2, 2009 - 9:27 AMThanks for posting a recipe, Rebecca. I missed the question. What you described is what I know as the standard procedure. Simmering works too, to make a tea of different consistency and with a different taste.
And of course it's worth adding that anyone who approaches tobacco in this form should be extremely careful--in fact, it's probably better to say that no one should drink tobacco juice at all, unless they have the direct guidance of someone with experience.
At the very least, one should start with tiny amounts and build up very gradually. Each encounter should be approached with a lot of care, as an encounter with a very powerful ally and serious poison.

I've had a strange and quite difficult time since I last posted here! Almost immediately, I learned that a family member had moved to the final stages of death, and spent a week with her and other family members, showing up at my job only occasionally until it was over.
Before I had even gone back to work, I found out that I have a last minute opportunity to join a graduate program at the university. I'm still working on that. It's a precarious opportunity at best.
As the last of my energy ran out, I caught a tough cold. It might be swine flu.
But I've found time to at least check on the tribe regularly.
I don't mean for this thread to be a personal blog about my situation, but I suppose it is basically and for right now an ongoing account of the situation of your humble moderator.
I'm still here and very much appreciating you all. -
