Re: how to use ayahuasca
Tue, September 2, 2008 - 10:03 AMThe funny and interesting thing about psychedelics is the way they have of eventually weeding out the folks who aren't taking them seriously. "Bad trips" start showing up, people get scared, encounter their own reflection and prefer to run rather than keep going. I'm one of the ones who started as a 16 year old throwing into my mouth whatever fun pill, paper, mushroom or whatever crossed my path. Thing is, if you want to ingest entheogens they sooner or later start demanding things of you. You start feeling your subtle and physical bodies, start expanding your awareness, start seeing a different way of living that is compatible with partaking of "higher" states of consciousness. Granted, there are always pitfalls along the way, new and different ones the more you walk on the path, but that's what also makes it kind of interesting....
Like, for example, I often wonder about people like Terrence McKenna, Tim Leary and Robert Anton Wilson. Despite long term psychedelic usage they never seemed to learn to take care of their bodies, and all three died at relatively young ages. Hell, my Grandma never touched an entheogen in her life and has lived considerably longer than those guys. So yeah, I'm rambling now, but I think if you want to make entheogen use sustainable in the long term you have to listen to what they teach you about not just the universe, but about your body.
Ramble on, ramble on, ramble on....
